Jason Lorch - NSW

A commonality we find with most of our Living Lab members is a deeply embedded passion for adventure. Jason Lorch began his life in the midst of the Preseli Mountains, and his spirit for adventure began. With a breathtaking mountain range as his backdrop, he grew up on a farm in the heart of Wales. Here the outdoors were never a stranger to him;

“The great outdoors is where I love to be. It is a place of spectacular beauty and limitless adventures, all out there waiting to be discovered. I thrive on pushing my physical and mental abilities to the limit and the outdoors is the perfect setting for this. At times it feels like my very own playground, but a playground that I fully respect at all times.“ Jason says.

Today he spends his days hiking, mountain biking, abseiling, canyoning and has recently developed a desire for climbing. All of which challenge him both mentally and physically and allow him to be in his playground as often as possible.

Jason’s passion for the outdoors are reflected in his active lifestyle, which isn’t limited to this weekend of mountain biking or next months hiking adventure, but it is reflected by the way he lives each and every day.

“During the week when I’m not outdoors I like to substitute a mix of gym workouts, trail running and hitting the indoor climbing gym. Without this I simply wouldn’t be able to do the things I love at a level I enjoy when in the wild.“ he says.

It has been 10 years since Jason moved to Australia and the great Adventure continues. “This amazing country just shouts to be discovered,” he exclaims.

With such a vast array of outdoor activities in store for him Jason requires garments able to stand the test of time, are durable and insanely comfortable. At Bluey Australia we want to see him continue to explore the nooks and cranny's of each mountain range bush trail. He first discovered Merino wool when hiking.

“I had heard of it’s qualities from other hikers so decided to try it out for myself. I was blown away by it’s amazing warmth and cooling characteristics plus its fast drying wicking capabilities.“

Now a Bluey 'Living Lab' member, Jason is ready to tackle his next adventures. An adventure race coming up in May, which combines running, mountain biking and kayaking and then preparation for the Larrapinta Trek in July. It involves 12 days of travelling across Australia’s breathing taking landscape, something that has been on Jason’s list for a very long time. Good luck on this great journey Jason!!

David Tepper - Victoria

It's hard for anyone to resist this lands natural beauty and wide open spaces when growing up in rural Australia, and the same goes for David Tepper.

“I have always loved the outdoors, it’s beautiful, untamed and my medicine.” he says.

David’s love for the outdoors comes across in his active lifestyle where he spends his free time bushwalking, kayaking and ultimately exploring. Our Bluey ‘Living Lab’ members are far more than just men and women interested only in keeping fit. With a goal of climbing Mt William, and running an Ultra Marathon in his sights for this year - there is something different about David’s passion to get outside.

“An Active person probably walks the dog, mows the lawn, plays golf maybe. A fit person works on their physical state intentionally. “I'd class myself as adventurous,” states David.

At Bluey Australia we value our ability to support adventurers like David all around the globe, enabling them to embark on life’s great journeys across all conditions and continents. It's this spirit of adventure, the courage to push further and the character to explore life fully. This pushes our Merino garments further which in turn pushes you personally beyond your limits everyday.

Tunnels, Goats, Germans, Uphills, Downhills and a Flat Macedonia

16th August update from Restless Bikers
In Kotor we made some friends from UK, Germany, Serbia and Australia. We shared a few beers with them on the hostel (that we didn’t stay on), and continued drinking in old town, and later on the beach as well. When we had had enough we fell asleep on a small pier while our friends went to the hostel and slept in their comfy beds. When the sun rose we woke up and spent a few hours on the hostel
before it was time to hit the road again. We said goodbye to everyone and especially to Tamara, who
worked at the hostel and let us hang out there and use their facilities as much as we wanted to without any charge.  More adventures to come @restlessbikers blog

Beautiful Montenegro - On the Road

9th August update from Restless Bikers

In Sarajevo we ate and drank and let our bodies relax and prepare for the upcoming hills. We also had time to visit a few war museums and take a tram and “forget” to buy a ticket, which cost us a small fine. Sarajevo was really pretty squeezed in between the mountains and such nice people everywhere. We truly recommend everyone to spend a few days there and experience the multi cultural city.

The way out of Sarajevo was hilly but beautiful. The first day we made it close to the border to Montenegro and slept on a hill side overlooking the mountains surrounding. During that day a small dog showed up at a place. He didn’t bark, but just ran with us for a while, smiling. Then for a while it ran in the opposite lane, and suddenly a car came and ran over it. A terrible sight and we felt really sad for the happy dog. May it rest in peace. See the full story @restlessbikers blog

Welcome

Welcome to our community blog. As part of us telling the story and sharing our commitment to the environment, we think its important that you understand the background behind Bluey Australia and what it takes to produce these insanely comfortable merino garments.

We are proudly Australian made and owned. We track the progress of our fibre from their origin on the Southern Slopes & Plains of NSW through every stage of production, seeking to integrate the best partners at every phase of this process. We are very proud of what we have started and hope you too come to love your own 'Bluey'. Check out the Bluey Australia story to-date.

Our Living Lab is committed to 'field testing' the style, purpose and functionality of every design we produce during its commercial release. Our community of fantastic garment advocates (Jason, Mark, Dave, Damian, Sara & Dr Marie) ensure we get input into the functionality, effectiveness and design of each range. This enables us to continually improve one release to the next.

We look forward to bringing you a range of experiences and stories from our Living Lab over the coming months and years. Thanks again for your support.
