Jason Lorch - NSW

A commonality we find with most of our Living Lab members is a deeply embedded passion for adventure. Jason Lorch began his life in the midst of the Preseli Mountains, and his spirit for adventure began. With a breathtaking mountain range as his backdrop, he grew up on a farm in the heart of Wales. Here the outdoors were never a stranger to him;

“The great outdoors is where I love to be. It is a place of spectacular beauty and limitless adventures, all out there waiting to be discovered. I thrive on pushing my physical and mental abilities to the limit and the outdoors is the perfect setting for this. At times it feels like my very own playground, but a playground that I fully respect at all times.“ Jason says.

Today he spends his days hiking, mountain biking, abseiling, canyoning and has recently developed a desire for climbing. All of which challenge him both mentally and physically and allow him to be in his playground as often as possible.

Jason’s passion for the outdoors are reflected in his active lifestyle, which isn’t limited to this weekend of mountain biking or next months hiking adventure, but it is reflected by the way he lives each and every day.

“During the week when I’m not outdoors I like to substitute a mix of gym workouts, trail running and hitting the indoor climbing gym. Without this I simply wouldn’t be able to do the things I love at a level I enjoy when in the wild.“ he says.

It has been 10 years since Jason moved to Australia and the great Adventure continues. “This amazing country just shouts to be discovered,” he exclaims.

With such a vast array of outdoor activities in store for him Jason requires garments able to stand the test of time, are durable and insanely comfortable. At Bluey Australia we want to see him continue to explore the nooks and cranny's of each mountain range bush trail. He first discovered Merino wool when hiking.

“I had heard of it’s qualities from other hikers so decided to try it out for myself. I was blown away by it’s amazing warmth and cooling characteristics plus its fast drying wicking capabilities.“

Now a Bluey 'Living Lab' member, Jason is ready to tackle his next adventures. An adventure race coming up in May, which combines running, mountain biking and kayaking and then preparation for the Larrapinta Trek in July. It involves 12 days of travelling across Australia’s breathing taking landscape, something that has been on Jason’s list for a very long time. Good luck on this great journey Jason!!
